Today has not been the greatest, which follows up a not-so-wonderful weekend. I just didn't want you guys to think I had forgotten about you. Today I am working on a re-organization of my closet and bedroom, so I will post before and after pictures as well as tips and deals I found for useful tools. Hope you are having a wonderful Monday afternoon!

I came across this great gallery by CollegeCandy.com of before/after photo comparisons of celebrities (view it here) and I just wanted to share it. I have been working on my self-esteem a lot lately, focusing more on being happy with myself versus trying to fit into what society says I should look like. Our culture is slowly but surely coming around to the same perspective and calling out all the photoshopping that goes into the media images projected upon us all. If you like this type of thing, check out a couple of my favorite songs that support this movement. They may or may not be your style, but they are all supporting being yourself and being happy with what that means. This is the third time I have made this recipe and it is so amazingly yummy and at the same time, unbelievably easy to make! This oreo icebox cake, oreo casserole or oreo bomb cake... It's all the same thing. I like the bomb cake title because it is like a bomb going off when you realize how long you have been missing out on this awesomeness! So I found the recipe on Pinterest (of course, right??) and pinned it like so many others. Pinterest is like the black hole of amazing ideas and new uses for things you see everyday where we basically tie a ribbon in a knot around our finger as a reminder to try something and then we move on to the next cool thing and forget about the last one. I know I am not the only one who does this. . . Am I? Ha ha no, I know there are more of you Pinaholics out there! So I pinned this tasty-looking photo with hopes of maybe one day getting around to it. The day eventually came when I needed to do something out of the norm for dessert. This was the chosen one, and I haven't looked back since! You can find the original pin here. Please go check out her awesome tutorial on how to make this oreo creation and show her some love! Plus, her photos are sooo much prettier than my 1 pic. Exhibit A: For my casserole dish, I needed about 1 1/2 packages of oreos (your choice of the type, but I prefer the original variation). All you need to do is get a bowl of milk, 2 tubs of Cool Whip and some Hersheys chocolate syrup. Dunk the oreos in the bowl of milk for about 10-15 seconds. Then use the slightly saturated cookies to cover the bottom of the dish, and smooth a 1/2-inch layer of whipped cream over top.
Repeat this two more times giving you a total of 3 layers of cookies/whipped cream. Drizzle your chocolate syrup on top and cover with plastic wrap or something to keep it protected. Refrigerate the dish for at least 4-6 hours, but keep in mind overnight will give you the best results. The whole process takes less than 15 minutes not including the refrigeration time and is delicious! Give it a shot and make sure to share it. I am sitting here writing the post while watching some DVR'd TV shows to get caught up. I feel like I am behind on quite a bit right now. I want to update you so you know where we stand right now and then I will work on some posts for the things I have done recently. To make it more fun, I am including pictures of these times.
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share some photos from our summer so far. We have had some fun adventures so far and have some more plans up our sleeve that we will share photos from as they happen. For now, here are some of the favorites.
I am sure most know about this awesome list of goals one can make but I have been building on mine and I feel like I have finally finished it. I am setting my goal to have accomplished all of these by the time I am 35. There are some at the bottom that I know I won't be able to do until long after that (hopefully) but they are going on the tail end of the list as by the time I die instead of 35.
About two months ago, I moved into my own apartment. It is low-budget to keep things simpler for me. The biggest issue I have had so far is not having very much space, and not having enough storage room. Keep in mind I went from about 2100 square feet to less than 700 square feet. I am not trying to complain, but instead to explain why I am having to come up with solutions for storage in such small spaces.
The apartment I got came with appliance, a horrible paint job, and new tiled floors that are uneven... Not the best, so please excuse some funky things in this place. I am doing my best on the low budget I have. Part of low-budget decorating is giving lots of makeovers to used furniture and other various items. Today's feature is this awesome little metal cart I found for $5 (awesome deal, right?)!!! I knew I would want to redo the paint and so I went into my vault of crafting & DIY supplies and found two cans of this light aqua color that will totally go with my overall idea of the finished product. This thing just needed a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint since I like the used/rustic look. So I brushed it off and went to painting! Here are the before pics of the cart. For all my Texas readers, here is a great way to save on you gasoline costs! HEB is doing a special through Sept 8th allowing a discount of $0.11/gallon when you use a pre-loaded HEB gift card. So when you are grocery shopping, make sure to load your card and then swipe that at the pump instead. :) Hope everyone's week is off to a good start!
Get more info here. I wanted some kind of dessert that was great for summer and decided to try something new. Below is your tutorial on how I made it.
I used: 5 very ripe peaches 10-12 strawberries 1/2 cup sugar Infused water is something I have heard of and tried, and actually come to really enjoy as a substitute to plain water, but even soda. There are so many varieties recommended to be tried that you can't get bored with it. There are supposed health benefits to some and some are just purely for taste. I am giving you the recipes for my two favorites in this post so you can try it for yourself.
Citrus/Mint Water 1/2 cucumber, sliced into thick pieces 2 lemons, sliced into thick pieces 10-12 mint leaves, broken into halves Ice Water |
