10 Fall Soups to Warm Your Soul

One thing I absolutely love about the fall weather is that I finally get to make soups and stews! It isn't typically suitable weather here in Texas for that kind of nonsensical food, so when the temps go down, I get excited.

I know you will likely notice a trend with these recipes I have gathered for y'all, but I like crock pot recipes because they normally require less work for me... Plus I get to smell them all day while I am at home with the Little Man and get my taste buds prepared!

Click here to visit my shop on Etsy.com. Don't worry, it will open a new window so you don't lose your place on my awesome blog!
As you may or may not know, I am a small business owner and I have an Etsy shop at Etsy.com. I do realize some people have never before heard of Etsy, so I want to take this opportunity to to explain this site to those of you who are in the dark. Etsy is a marketplace for small business owners like me who make hand-crafted items and for those who sell antique items. It is NOT for large commercialized companies like Walmart, Target, and the like. This is a place where you can find all sorts of things for almost anything you could ever want or need and yet so many people have never heard of it.

Well, back to my main point and the reason I am writing this post.

Saturday, November 30th is "Small Business Saturday" and I have been hearing radio ads asking shoppers to help support the small businesses rather than the large companies on that day. It got me thinking... Why just support the small businesses on one day of the year? As a small business owner, I know how difficult it is to find advertising space without having to pay crazy amounts that eat up your profits very quickly. I try very hard to keep my prices low & competitive so that I can get more customer base and build my business which means I don't profit much at all, and that leads to not much money left to advertise with. If other small business owners are like me, I figured I could try to help them in some way.

So I put out an offer to my fellow Etsians and we will see how it goes. I have offered to advertise for them for free here on my blog every Thursday, where the posts will be known as "Thursday Features" so that they can get their name out there without having to pay for it. It may help, it may not. All I am asking is that you look at the featured listings to see if anything might be something of interest to you, maybe something you were already interested in. Maybe you know someone who needs or was looking for something I am featuring? Just let them know that you found it!

My goal in this is to pay it forward in a way that I can. I know it probably isn't much, but I figure it is something and that is better than nothing. I know the thrill I get when an order comes through that I had no clue was coming, and if I can help that happen to someone else, I will do it. So from here on out, I will be featuring random listings from Etsy.com. I do recommend that you take a moment to stop by the site when you have time if you are looking for Christmas gifts and see if you can't find more personal gifts there than at your local retailer. I dare you!

Here are today's features! Click on the photo to visit the Etsy shop for the feature and it will open a new window.

Our Traditional Thanksgiving Menu - With Options

With Thanksgiving Day fast approaching, I know you may already have a menu planned out, but some of you may be trying to figure out what yours is lacking. I wanted to take a moment to share with you what our traditional family menu looks like so maybe you can get some ideas or inspiration from it to take to your own family table.

Second to Christmas, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because of how festive a time it is for everyone. I love how much cooking it entails, the decorating, the weather changes, and the (fake) color changes we get to experience. I love fall! The recipes we bring to the table just seem to embrace the flavors of fall. I have the recipes sorted into categories for you so they will be easy to find. Each recipe title is linked to the recipe origin to make it easy, as well as having a picture so you can see what you would be making. If you want to make it, just click on the link and go make your list!

I know you have all seen those articles floating around boasting the miracle way to potty train in 24 hours or a few days or a week, and whatnot... I too was a skeptic, thinking it was just a gimmick to get you to read their stuff. Not anymore, because I actually did it!
